Has anyone in Florida received Unemployment Extension Benefits?
Bush signed the extension on Nov 23rd. Being unemployed for over a year.. I applied.

Florida Unemployment will not answer their phones or emails? Still no word.

Speculation is that the State is using this Federal money for day to day operations? (Charlie Christ and his guests ate caviar at his recent wedding)

3. I got a letter last week that contained an application for extended benefits.
I filled out the application and mailed it before Christmas. STILL no word.

I did notice on the AFWP Website, that they are not going to honor the 20 week extention.(Like the other 49 States) If you got the 13 weeks extention in July.. they are going to deduct that and all you will get is 7 weeks extention. They are supposed to offer 7 weeks plus 13 more weeks to States with unemployment above 7%. (That is all of Florida)..so we qualify. Cheapskate Republicans in FLorida...

The Big Print giveth....

The Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2008 (Public Law 110-449), signed by the President on November 21, 2008, amended the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Act of 2008 (Public Law 110-252) by increasing the amount of benefits an individual may be paid on a claim. The original law, which was effective July 6, 2008 created an entitlement of 50% of the regular state unemployment claim for up to a maximum of 13 weeks of benefits. The amended law increases the eligibility to 80% of the regular state claim or up to a maximum of 20 weeks of additional benefits, whichever is less, for weeks of unemployment beginning November 23, 2008.

The small print taketh away

The new EUC available credits will be reduced by EUC benefits previously paid.

5. Extended Unemployment Benefits
I'm in that same boat with y'all. I filed the application for the "extra" extension, but have yet to get anything. I DID receive a letter telling me to claim week 11/23-11/29 on 12/2 BUT the letter was postmarked to me on 12/17...a little late, I would say. I DID go in and claim it (never got any money though) and it said the next time to claim was 12/16 (also after the date I received the letter), but nothing has come up for me to claim and I keep getting conflicting information from the unemployment people as to what is available to me (from a credit of $4774 to nothing)...I have received two determinations and no answers to my appeals. I truly believe that the whole system is screwed up and way behind in processing the claims and what claims they do complete are not right so who knows whats going on. If anyone has any more information on this, I'd love to hear it.

6. Florida EUC Benefits
Has anyone heard anything lately about this euc problem. The most recent post I saw was 12-08. I filed a claim on Feb 02, 2009 and on about the 10th received a letter saying my claim was approved. On the 14'th I received a letter telling me to start claiming weeks on 12-08-08!?! No answer at the 800 number or reply to my emails.

8. RE
Unemployment in FL has reached 10%, millions have been affected. I know Crist denied the stimulus, but do you all think this was warranted? Would love to discuss!
