Ousted GOP chairman Jim Greer, target of corruption probe, arrested by FDLE

The booking photo for Jim Greer, former chairman of the Republican Party of Florida,
taken Wednesday morning by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

Jim Greer, the big-spending former chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, was arrested Wednesday morning at his Central Florida home amid a widening probe of corruption connected to the state GOP.

The charges against Greer, 47, were not immediately announced, but the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said it will hold an 11:30 a.m. news conference to discuss a ''major arrest.''

Greer, pressured to resign from the party in February, has been under FDLE investigation since spring after the new party leaders discovered he was profiting from what they said was a clandestine consulting contract he struck with the party.

While Greer took shots from numerous rank-and-file Republicans, Gov. Charlie Crist stood firmly by him. Crist picked Greer to lead the party in 2007, despite the grumblings of numerous Republicans who didn't know Greer.

1. I'll bet that took some of the wind out of his sails.

And it's about time one of the good ol' boys was held accountable.

2. I swear to God if Karen Thurman, that incompetent leader of ours, doesn't take advantage of this
I don't know what I'll do! There is no reason that the Dems can't take advantage of this and tie it around the necks of the entire GOP!!!

We must get more Dems elected in the legislature!

We must get Amendments 5 and 6 passed (Fair Districts) and kill Amendment 7 (Guts Fair Districts)

We must get a Dem elected governor.
