A toast! The Rep. establishment is angry over FL GOPers choosing HIGHLY conservative Rick Scott
The head of the Republican party in Florida had just called out Rick Scott a few weeks ago for how he was running his campaign against their party favorite, Bill McCollum.

However, the Tea Party favorite, yet again, causes the GOP machine much frustration, as the GOP favorite goes down in flames. The good thing is (hopefully) when these far-right candidates get into the general election, the majority of voters will be turned off by their extreme views and plans for America.

Scott said earlier tonight, "Remember me, the handsome bald guy?... The people of Florida have spoken, and I like what they've said. Over 1 million Floridiers... Floridians, from around the state said we're ready to turn Florida around. Let's get to work." Let's hope he doesn't do anything but waste a bunch of cash.

The AP has declared him the narrow winner over Bill McCollum, who has refused to give up until all the votes have been counted - and you might as well consider that statement on behalf of the GOP. They did not want this flawed candidate Billionaire, Rick Scott, who is connected as close as you could be to the $1.7 billion in federal fines leveled against Columbia HCA, for Medicare fraud - it is his company!

The Democratic Nominee for Governor, CFO of Florida, Alex Sink needs to come out swinging against the corruption that is - Rick Scott!
She is miles away from his far right political mindset, and Floridians better realize that Scott is a corporate candidate, and reject him soundly. The major problem is that Rick Scott will now top the $50 million he's already spent, and will probably spend well over $100 million dollars to try and buy the governor's office.

1. seeing the results
I have this sinking feeling that he just might pull it off. this state seems to be brain dead, be it about land conservation, education, oil drilling, and every other thing that applies to the mid income person.

I can just picture everyone in Lecanto, Lacoochee, Frostproof, Arcadia and every other burg in the state thinking that he holds something for them.

Gaud, I want to move away so bad anymore but where to go?

2. The Sink/Smith ticket could win. This, according to Charlie Cook today on MSNBC.
They look to be a formidable team.

Sink makes it official: Rod Smith for Lt. Gov

Democrat Alex Sink's gubernatorial campaign is confirming she picked former state Sen. Rod Smith as her running mate. The story broke Monday but the campaign is just now making it official.

In a statement, Sink said: "Rod Smith shares my commitment to growing Florida’s economy, improving our public schools, and holding state government accountable. As a former prosecutor, Rod knows how to root out corruption and he will be a strong partner to clean up the mess in Tallahassee. I am proud to have Rod Smith join me as we stand up for the priorities of Floridians and fight for the future of our state."

And Smith, in accepting the nod, said in a statement released by the campaign: "I am proud to stand with Alex Sink and know she has the right experience and detailed plans to grow Florida’s economy, improve public education and finally hold those politicians in Tallahassee accountable. Alex has the decades of real world experience we need to get our state back on track and I am honored that she selected me to join her as her lieutenant governor.

"Like Alex, I was raised on a family farm – we both know the value of hard work and family, and have a deep love of Florida. I spent my life standing up for working Floridians and protecting our communities, and I share her commitment to integrity and service. I look forward to working alongside Alex – together we will bring the common-sense, problem solving approach needed to move our state forward."

3. I watched his victory speech.
It was tough.. he makes me a little nauseous. I don't know what it is about him, but he sets off all my ick-o-meters. I will be pulling for Alex Sink as hard a possible. A Scott governor paired with the repubs we have in the Florida Senate and House would be a disaster.

4. In defeat, McCollum still 'fighting against Obamacare' and illegal immigration. They both disgust me.
Edited on Wed Aug-25-10 11:31 AM by flpoljunkie
My campaign for Governor may be over, but I remain committed to serving our state and serving out the rest of my term as Florida’s Attorney General. We will continue our fight against Obamacare, continue to support states’ rights and their authority to crack down on illegal immigration and fight for all Floridians.

5. I hope to see
that snide, satisfied, cat-that-ate-the-canary smile wiped off his face. He's scum. Let's hope Alex's ad team can get the message across. Too many gullible yahoos here in Florida, along with the disinterested and the self-serving.
