Politico: Alex Sink out of the gate with a new ad, titled 'Enough!'
Edited on Wed Aug-25-10 09:16 AM by flpoljunkie
SCORE EXCLUSIVE – SINK’S TURN TO SWIM: Hours after former health care executive Rick Scott claimed victory in Florida’s brutal Republican gubernatorial primary, the Florida Democratic Party is launching its general election effort for state CFO Alex Sink with a new ad blitz in select television markets. The FDP commercial, titled “Enough,” sharpens Sink’s message and features the candidate introducing herself as an honest, fresh face for state government. “My career was in business, but I’ve seen just enough of state government to know that the partisanship and special interests are even worse than you think. And I’m fed up with it. I want the wasteful spending cut, I want the corruption out the door,” Sink says. “Partisanship? I’ve got no patience for it. Special interests? Nothing special about ‘em to me. My only interests are a stronger economy, an accountable state government and being nobody’s governor but yours.”

1. looks like a few sound bites to me.
I'll be waiting to see what a CFO can come up with in the face of a CEO that has had a let go on fraud charges.

In the meantime, nothing has changed.

2. This one isn't a slam dunk
1. Scott can pour a lot of money into the campaign.

2. The GOP will eventually rally behind Scott.

3. The GOP is energized by other races to help GOTV even if they don't particularly care for Scott.

4. While Alex Sink would make an excellent governor and is highly qualified, she has the charisma of a pile of wet leaves.

5. Bud Chiles may pull some old line Dem votes from Sink.

We will have to work hard on this one. We can not relax.

3. slam dunk, hell this is Floriduh
where when they talk about cutting taxes, it means on mega yachts and airplanes. Meanwhile the regular folks that will vote for scott will get increased fees to fish, hunt, visit state parks, register their vehicles/boats/skateboards/scooters. they'll never notice a thing.

4. Will Chiles hurt Sink?
Maybe the electorate has turned over enough that it won't make a difference, but "Chiles" as a name was once very popular.

5. I believe Chiles will hurt Scott.
charlie has done a lot of shifting in the wind but the shifts he made are populist in nature. Sink has to get her message out there, whatever that message is.

Everyone says they're gonna lower taxes, create jobs and reduce government, but not a one will say how, what, when or where.
