Boyd endorsed by U.S. Chamber
U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd proudly touted a re-election endorsement by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as proof of his conservative credentials Wednesday.

His opponent called it a sign that the national business lobby is out of touch with small companies.

Boyd called a news conference at the Tallahassee airport to announce the endorsement. He is locked in a tough re-election duel with Steve Southerland, a Panama City funeral home operator who has been blasting Boyd for changing his vote on national health care — supporting President Obama's plan on final passage after first voting against — as well as some other administration policies.

But Bill Miller, senior vice president and political director of the U.S. Chamber, and Barney Bishop, president of Associated Industries of Florida, said Boyd has shown a record of fiscal restraint in his 14 years in Washington. They particularly praised his bipartisanship, saying that's a rare quality in this election year.
