State budget gap at $5 billion.
Please take one minute to register with the St. Pete Times and comment as a Democrat on this article. Blame must be placed on the Republicans. I can't cut and paste from the SPT but it's a good paper to read if you're a Dem.

1. And they will continue slashing programs that help people and continue
trying to loot as many special interest money out the door as they can. This state sucks ass.. We should be protesting like the Egyptians down here for the abuse and mis-handling of our states assets.

2. How do we get people out to the streets?
We've got to start a working class/middle class movement here.

3. I will say that Florida's teachers provided a good example for getting people out.
Last year they used Facebook and Twitter, just like the Egyptians, to organize. When the Republicans start coming after pensions, Medicaid, Medicare, schools and other important programs, advocates need to use these social networking sites to get peoples' attention. Then take to the streets on either on a work day to shut things down or on a Saturday to get people out protesting. It's time. We've got to wake up the middle class to the Republican platform and taking to the streets will do it. University students, teachers, professors, police, firemen, the poor, and all others who believe in social justice need to get out and protest a la 1968!!!
