a recommendation among Alachua County judge candidates
just want to mention Emory Springfield, running in Group 3 judges, for tomorrow's election.
He is a good guy who worked on 3 workers comp cases for my husband. He was always very accessible and took very modest payments for the cases (unlike the "big name" lawyers on both counts). He is humanitarian, progressive, ethical to a fault, and absolutely detests BushCo as well as the Bush Machine in Florida. We have had many talks that went far beyond workers comp per se, giving insights into his attitudes, and I think he would be an excellent judge.

1. Ok
I was going to vote for Bruce Smith, as I haven't read much about judicial candidates, and the little that I did read, it seemed Smith would be best. Also, I always see that Emory Springfield billboard on north 441, and it seemed like he was the "ambulance chaser" type. But, if what you say is true in your talks with him, you just convinced me. Even though from the rediculous amounts of Bruce Smith signs I see around Gainesville, it would seem he was poised to win.

Thanks for the info.

2. yeah I know that billboard you mean
--but I guess he needs to advertise too, right?
he has done other areas of law. I think he likes helping people get what they need from insurance companies and not letting the insurance companies get away with a lot of BS--helping the little guy kind of thing--he is not shy about explaining how the system is tipped in favor of employers, how there is no allowance in workers comp for, simply, "pain and suffering," and how there is an overemphasis (in the media) on workers' comp cheats and not enough on employers who cheat that system.
