Democrats scramble to replace Jim Stork
As Jim Stork's campaign hibernates, Democrats cast about for a replacement candidate to take on Clay Shaw for Congress.

BY BETH REINHARD

While Democratic congressional candidate Jim Stork's campaign remains in limbo, Washington party strategists are desperately shopping for a replacement hardy enough to challenge longtime Republican incumbent E. Clay Shaw.

It may be a lost cause with less than two months before the Nov. 2 election.

Stork, 37, announced three weeks ago that he was taking a break from the campaign to undergo ''medical tests.'' Three top campaign aides have left.

''I sort of got tired of waiting around,'' said Meghan Scott, Stork's former media spokeswoman.

1. It looks like he's out
I've heard that soon he'll withdraw from the race officially.

I hate to hear this. DFA and dailykos raised a good amount of money for him. I hope he's okay.
