While Democratic congressional candidate Jim Stork's campaign remains in limbo, Washington party strategists are desperately shopping for a replacement hardy enough to challenge longtime Republican incumbent E. Clay Shaw.
It may be a lost cause with less than two months before the Nov. 2 election.
Stork, 37, announced three weeks ago that he was taking a break from the campaign to undergo ''medical tests.'' Three top campaign aides have left.
''I sort of got tired of waiting around,'' said Meghan Scott, Stork's former media spokeswoman.
