Man beats 7 year old boy for putting pink polish on his nails.
Edited on Tue Dec-18-07 04:03 PM by edbermac
A man was arrested on child abuse charges after he beat a 7-year-old boy with a belt because the child put pink fingernail polish on his own nails, according to Orange County sheriff's deputies.

Aundre Jermaine Hill, 25, was arrested on Saturday at about 5:19 p.m. after sheriff's deputies responded to a home in reference to a call saying that a boy was discovered with bruises on his body.

Orange County sheriff's deputies said the boy's mother was bathing him when she noticed the markings on the boy. Investigators said it appeared the boy was beaten with a belt and hands on his buttocks, arms, temple and legs.

Hill was located, arrested and transported to the Orange County Jail. He later bonded out of jail.

1. That poor baby!

My older son when he was two used to put a ribbon on a barrette in his hair, look into the mirror and say "Pretty Pretty!"

Thank heavens my husband thought it was cute and not threatening.

3. Well, glad he was arrested at least.
To hear some of my Southron neighbors tell it, such beat-downs used to be pretty commonplace "discipline."

7. It must be a Southern thing - my dad used to hit me with a belt, too
The other thing he liked was "switches", slender branches taken from trees and stripped of twigs and foliage. For fun he'd make me pick the switch to get whipped with.

The first time I told a therapist this he was appalled. I had never really thought (consciously) about it; it just the way things were.

Ah, the good old days growing up in the South.

10. Nothing "southern" about that, unfortunately.
...and that's all I really want to say on that subject. :evilfrown:

11. I don't like to regionally stereotype, but I've lived in other parts of the US
the great Plains and the Northeast, but never before had I heard so often of parents beating their kids with assorted objects than I did when I moved to the atlanta area a few years ago.

It's kinda sick/wierd, but it also kinda explains a lot.

6. Good God. My 7 year-old asked to get his ears pierced. And he plays football.
Both are very "him," and I can scarcely put into words how much I love him.

How fucking broken Aundre Hill must be...

9. He Later Bonded Out of Jail
The fact that this child-beating monster was allowed to walk out of jail is just appalling.

I hope the child is taken away from these monsters and that a nice, compassionate couple (perhaps a same-sex couple?) are allowed to adopt him.

12. when i lived in texas the boy who lived across the street from us was friends
with my daughter and he used to come over all the time and once he decided he wanted to paint his nails, i think he was about 6 at the time, anyhow he did and my daughter did his right hand for him and he went home, his father had a complete shit fit. The next day his dad came over to my house and expressed his annoyance with me for letting his son paint his nails, i told him i was sorry and i also told him it was my idea because i pretty knew how bad he yell at his son so he told me "I don't ever want you to do that again---ok??!!? ""Ok, i'm really sorry, won't happen again" and with that it was over, i suppose i could have said what was on my mind but i thought if i did things would go worse for the son. We've moved out of Texas and i still talk to his wife and i always ask after the boy, he's a really nice kid, kind of a jan brady, you know the middle child that doesn't have enough zazz for his father's liking, he's doing well in school and he's on the football team, his dad wanted to coach but thankfully he was told he wasn't needed.

13. With a name like Aundre, I can understand where the aggression comes from.
Edited on Tue Dec-18-07 04:32 PM by OmelasExpat
That and the fact that he was raised in a country where attacking the vulnerable is becoming a political axiom.

I've gotten to the point of just assuming that people who act that way are closeted, self-hating homosexuals. It's a safe bet.

like a rebel flag or a flaming dragon, he probably would have been given a reward.

15. Oh my goodness. How awful!
That poor little guy. My daughter's that age, and she has boys in her class that like to play with girls because they're not quite as violent in their play at recess and such. They're fine. Who would think of beating them?

My five year old son wants sparkles on his tractor sweater I'm knitting up. If I can figure out how, I'm going to. Why shouldn't he have sparkles if he wants them?

16. Why was this moved from GD? Well anyway,
my oldest kid has a tendency to do shit like that, wear womans clothes, paint his nails, that kind of shit. He played with Barbies till he was about 10. It happens much less now than it used to but my favorite discussion with him about this was when he came home from school crying because his brother had told one of his friends about his Barbie habits. It was then that I took him on the internet and showed him a few pictures. Pictures of Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Tommy Bolan, Alice Cooper, Marilyn Manson, Motley Crue, and a host of others who weren't afraid to look "different". I showed him gay and straight males who achieved massive success due to their ability to be who they wanted to be in spite of opposition from ignorant fools. I still don't know whether he's gay or not, don't really care, but I do know that he won't be beating up anyone because of how they dress of because of their sexual orientation... Unlike this poor kid who will grow up thinking it's ok to beat people for being different. I hope his mother gets a clue and gets the kid out of that situation before he ends up at one of those "re-programming" camps..

17. Must be related to the woman I met this weekend
Who told a family member that she is sending her preteen son to a military school because she's worried he'll be gay since he lives with "three strong women" (sisters and mom; Dad isn't in the picture).
