LAWRENCEVILLE — The “Harry Potter” book series may soon be taken off the shelves of all media centers in Gwinnett County Public Schools if a parent’s appeal is successful.
A parent of students at J.C. Magill Elementary School filed appeal forms for each of the books, requesting the wildly popular series be removed from public school libraries...

1. I bet they have a copy of the Bible in there. I want it removed.
A burning bush. Someone walking on water. Obviously strong witchcraft going on there.

What a fucking moran. Haven't we settled this already? 6 books into the series is a little late to get your panties in a wad.

2. I wonder how her hearing at 2 p, today went?
Also, I find the "Left Behind" books offensive and they should be removed from all places, doncha think?

4. Actually, an AJC editorialist brought that up
There's no link to the op-ed piece from yesterday, but a self-professed Christian pointed out that the "Raputure" is nowhere to be found in the Bible, and that the Left Behind novels are "pornographic" in their depiction of violence.

And mind you, this is what our Flying-Monkey Censor Lady wants to have REPLACING the Harry Potter series.

She's batshit insane, but in a batshit insane world, we're supposed to give them equal time. Ain't life grand?

6. Made the evening news
and the sound bites of testimony made me want to puke. Some 15-year-old girl said that reading the series sent her down the road of witchcraft and sorcery. Truth be told, she sounded like a chapter from some spooky teen book than actual experience. :eyes: Have these crazy people nothing better to do than try to turn the region into a theocracy? Just answered my own question. :silly:

Mothers, don't let your babies grow up to read Harry Potter.

7. I hear a wingnut proclaim
That Harry Potter books led their family to Satan, (THe Stacy Thomas Family) witchcraft, ultimately causing their family to lose friends, finances, and their reputation.

Wow.

8. Perhaps it was their inability to excercise a scintilla of
critical thought. It runs rampant in that highly superstitous crowd.

9. Wow
lose friends, finances, and reputation by reading Harry Potter? Wingnut logic, blaming everything except their own poor choices and judgement for their troubles.

except when they're not.

12. Her request for a ban was denied this week.
She'll probably appeal, but she will lose. I wish nut bags like her would homeschool and leave the rest of us alone!

13. She's at it again
she's going to the state board of education. The video article is here at http://www.wsbtv.com/video/9993787/index.html

The worse thing is the freeper lies you'll hear in the article. The kids are casting spells and holding seances and the teachers know but are afraid to come forward else they'll lose their jobs--blah, blah, blah. :eyes: I see that freepers can't tell the truth and are very unoriginal. x(
