Nasty Republican congressional runoff here in Georgia
I didn't know about it until last night when I saw just about the most incredibly negative campaign ad I've ever seen.

If you've seen it, you know what I mean. It was from the white Republican candidate, Westmoreland. He just about called Glenn, the black Republican candidate, a welfare mom.

Here's a story about it. http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/mld/ledgerenquirer/news/local/9322387.htm

This is not my district but I feel dirty just living in the same state as these two.

If I were Dylan Glenn tonight, I would be knocking my head into the wall and wondering why did I run as a Republican? If Glenn had run as a Democrat, he would of had no real primary opponent. But he would still have his campaign contributer base, an equal chance of winning in November, and the support of Zell Miller. :evilfrown:

Instead he tried to win in a majority redneck primary, while losing any chance of building a winning black-white political base by promoting a Newt Gingrich-neocon style message. If he had followed the examples of Majette, Bishop, and Ford..and run as a conservative Democrat then he would be Congressman Glenn.

2. The 8th district....
...is almost 90% registered Republican. No Democrat, not even a conservative one, is going to win there.

3. Very true
I did meet the woman who is running. She says that no Democrat has run in that district in something like a dozen years and that she was sick of it. She is realistic about her chances, but who knows. Silvia Delamar is her name. She's a nice lady.
