Sonny Perdue for Vice President?
In a separate thread in this forum, I offered an opinion about Georgia Governor Sonny Purdue that, it wold seem, is entirely incorrect. Of Perdue I said, "I sincerely hope and honestly believe, has no further political aspirations." Turns out I was wrong.

Today Bill Shipp of the Macon Telegraph published an editorial in which he reports that, according to an "impeccable" source, Sonny Perdue has his eye on the office of Vice President of the United States.

This is serious. Gov. Sonny Perdue really is on the short list of possible Republican vice presidential nominees.

At first I thought somebody was kidding me. Now I'm satisfied Sonny is prepping for the national scene. An impeccable source spilled the beans.

No wonder Sonny has been flying off to Washington and other faraway places. His is boning up on national and international concerns. He is heavily involved in the Republican Governors Association, a group that raises big money and hands it out to GOP gubernatorial candidates.

President Georgi W. Bush has named Sonny vice chairman of the Homeland Security Advisory Council. The Georgia governor also has taken a hand in counseling the White House on international trade.

After a diligent search, it appears that Mr. Shipp's column has not yet been posted to the paper's website. When it does appear, it should be here: http://www.macon.com/opinion/.

I suppose I was guilty of some wishful thinking. My apologies.

2. Only if he will resign the Governorship so he can campaign.
I really doubt that any Repuke is going to win the White House this year, and throw a dumbass fundie gasbag like Perdue onto the GOP ticket, and that Repuke ship will sink even faster. If he does mount a run for VP, I just hope he does all of us here in Georgia a favor and resigns from his current position.

3. Diebold just might give Sonny (and his GOP
running mate) another win. That's how he got his current job.

4. Heard this again today.
If the Republicans in the rest of the country are so stupid that they'd vote for McCain with this asshat on the ticket, I'll laugh my ass off for 4 years. Yes! The governor who promotes fishing as a tourism campaign during a DROUGHT to be the man in charge if the President bites it while in office. Yes, I'd laugh my ass off...

it'd be better than crying.
