Well, this is pleasantly surprising--Gwinnett County results
Or what I was able to dig up from a news search this afternoon:

http://www.gwinnettherald.com/Articles-i-2008-10-31-175592.114126_Gwinnett_County_Unofficial_Election_Results.html

John McCain R, 141,045, 52.95%
Barack Obama D, 122,532, 46.00%
Bob Barr L, 2,097, 0.79%

Just to keep it in perspective: in 2004, Kerry got 90,000 votes in this county.

The GOP can't hold on for much longer, I don't think.

1. Doug had the 2nd highest percentage for a Dem who didn't win -
only Bobby Saxon did better than Doug (Bobby got 39.2% against Broun). Doug got 37.9% against Linder.

This district was hand drawn to be the safest of safe districts for the GOP. I can't wait for redistricting!

2. If memory serves, that means Doug picked up about 8 percentage points
over the 2006 challenger, Allan Burns.

(I know YOU know that, it's just for the eddy-fication of those stumbling upon this thread.)

That's pretty cool. Doug should be very proud.

4. Did you see Cobb Co. results?
Can't remember them right off hand but they surprised me with how many votes Obama got.

6. Gwinnett needs change at the DA's office now !!
Here's my story below. This is what a career politician does when he's been in office to long.

I had over a million dollars in cash and property stolen. Much of it by friends of the District Attorney. Since turning them in I’ve had my windows busted out of my home, the DA has tried to intimidate me, I’ve been blatantly lied to by Danny Porter and his Chief Investigator ,I’ve been ignored ,called me a fool on one forum (a fool for ever trusting him) ,my witnesses were never called, and when my attorney quit out of fear of this monster he said that Danny porter may frame me and my life could be in danger. That should tell you what kind of DA we have. As far as the runaway bride, mansion madam, etc goes. He gets involved with any case that gets him camera time. His ego knows no bounds. I have gone the the feds to find justice. It takes longer but will be fine when it comes. Because of all my blogs and forums I have had more people with stories about abuses by this DA that are meeting with the feds too. They all have a story to tell. Gwinnett is a scary place if the DA doesn’t like you or you catch his friends stealing. His arrogance and ego are gigantic. I have a feeling I’ll get all mine back and then some when its over. One time that I posted Danny Porter posted and called me a fool ,talked down to me ,and the had the nerve to tell me that its still an open case ON A BLOG !!. Of course they already gave me back most of the evidence. Not what might get their friends in trouble of course. They took 31 years of hard work from me and hurt a lot of other people but all that matters is the DA’s agenda.

7. Welcome to DU.
I am not familiar with the Gwinnett County DA's office, but I hope you get justice in the end.

8. Porter's puss is on a ton of true crime shows
Gwinnett County does seem to have become the epicenter of crime in Georgia.

Let's see... the serial-killing dentist Bart Corbin, the teenage boy Chris Routh accused of fingering and killing the little girl he was babysitting (found not guilty), Office Chapman something-or-other who killed an old lady for 14 grand...

Danny Porter does not shy away from cameras, that is for sure.

11. Your reply
I agreed Gwinnett has more crime than it should. The case you mentioned was Officer Michael Chapel. There are many questions about the case that have not been answered. I'd like to see him get an appeal.

12. Thank you
I believe I will. There's a lot going on right now but any federal investigation of a sitting DA will be long.

9. Ken, a bit of friendly advice
I would suggest you start a new thread about your experiences with the DA's office.

As for whether Danny Porter is evil incarnate or just another opportunistic politician, what I've experienced (admittedly not that much) I'd lean toward the latter.

But by all means, come back if you feel the urge and expand on what happened, if you feel comfortable getting more specific about it.

Keep in mind though the GA forum of DU isn't that well trafficked (I just happened to wander in for the first time in weeks, just now).

I like your username. Thanks for your reply and advice. Everything I wrote was the truth. I've been blogging a lot over time. I've had many others come forward with stories that would be described as evil. I can't get into detail yet but the former and the latter would be a good fit for Mr Porter. He has damaged some innocent lives for his own gain. Its sad. I've been an investigator for over 20 years and I wouldn't believe a word that came out of his mouth.
