Small Kid Time? Hannemann supporter caught removing Bainum signs
One of the local TV newscasts (can't find which one) caught someone removing Duke Bainum (candidate for Honolulu mayor) signs -- with professional-style tools.

The incident is also referenced here:

http://starbulletin.com/2004/07/17/news/index12.html

The two former city councilmen also used the opportunity before the news media to take jabs at each other.

Bainum talked about dozens of his campaign signs that have disappeared in different parts of the island.

Hannemann said disappearing signs are a fact of life during the course of campaigns and that it is a "minor issue."

Won't it be great to have the grownups back in charge? </sarcasm>

Seriously, this one's easy: Elect Bainum as mayor, and Hannemann as student council president, because that's clearly the office Mufi is running for.

1. "disappearing signs are a fact of life" said Mufi, his best impression
yet of Hogan's Heroes, Sgt. Shultz.

"I know nothing"

2. An embarrassing cop out by Mufi. You would think a better comment
was in order....

3. Team Mufi a bit slow to get the message

Weeks later, it's still going on:

http://www.thehawaiichannel.com/politics/3753740/detail.html

The Bainum campaign said following the primary Saturday they have had an increasing problem with their signs obliterated by vandals with spray paint.

Aiea homeowner Rudy Medina said 17 Bainum signs on his fence were vandalized late Tuesday night. Two of the signs were ripped down....

Seven Bainum signs were recently vandalized in Kaimuki. The Waialae Avenue homeowners said earlier this summer that Bainum signs were ripped off their fences and dumped by the garbage.

Hannemann signs in the same area remain untouched. This weekend, Bainum signs were spray painted over on North King Street in Kalihi.

Edit: Emphasis. It's not just still going on, it's getting worse! Is this how Mufi would solve, say, the traffic problem, by ripping traffic signs down? :-)
