We have a room reserved from 7-10, but people are welcome to stay beyond 10.
Marcy Wheeler, author of the new book about Plamegate, "Anatomy of Deceit: How the Bush Administration Used the Media to Sell the War and Smear a Critic," will be joining us to do a book signing. Marcy is also known as emptywheel and is liveblogging the Libby trial on firedoglake this week.



Saturday breakfast:
Hawk and Dove
They open for business at 10.
This is just a suggestion for anyone who wants to grab breakfast before heading over to the march meet-up location. It will not be formally organized. Feel free to grab breakfast wherever you want and then meet us for the march.

Rally Meet up:
NE corner of Jefferson & 4th St NW, across from the Museum of the American Indian.
Look for the DU banner.
Try to be there between 10:30-11:30.
The march begins at 1:00, but we may have to move from that spot before the march.

The time will vary depending on when the march ends, and how long people choose to stay. (For
those that plan to have dinner elsewhere, the evening meet up will start here between 7:00-8:00.)

Dinner: There are no plans for a group dinner, but there is food available at Kelly's or you can grab a bite anywhere and then meet up with us.

Some people may choose to go there right after the march, grab a burger, and relax until the evening meet up. This might be especially helpful for people who aren't staying in the Hill area. There is music, but the loud music is downstairs and there may be a folk singer or two where we'll be.

Jesselyn was one of the first whistleblowers against the Bush administration. She was brutaly attacked and smeared for the last 5 years. For Jesselyn, she lost her job and almost lost her law certification all because these people are common mafia thugs!

But she's speaking out. She's been talking to legislative reps. And furthermore, if any investigations come to fruition, she will most certainly be called upon to give her story.

Not trying to step on emptywheel's toes, but would it be possible to invite Jesselyn to an author's signing as well? Jesselyn has given up a heck of a lot in taking a stand against this administration.

I'm not sure about having two book signings at the same time, though. What if she did hers at the Saturday night meetup instead of Friday?

We will be on the street Saturday but our bus will head back to Columbus, Ohio in the afternoon.
We will think good thoughts of you gathering and rehashing the events of the day. Sorry to miss this. Maybe next time we can stay longer. I'm just happy to be there for the march at this point. My cousin in Columbus isn't online, and has been disconnected from the peace movement since Air American left the area. She came to the last march, but is unemployed this time, so couldn't figure out a way to get to DC. I would have sponsored her to join you all if only I'd have known. :(

The plan is to get on the bus at midnight Friday, drive to DC and arrive in time for the march after which we will get back on the bus and drive back to Columbus arriving in the wee hours of sunday.. We are flying by the seat of our pants here with the hope of meeting new friends and making a statement to the rest of the world to get up off of their butts and do something. sadly missing the march... not that i could march anyway or be outside for too long in cold temp, but still would have been cool. i will try to make sunday pub, as long as i get out of meetings early enough

We don't have anything planned for Sunday -- I'll probably do brunch at Kramer's or something with my daughter and her friend before leaving for the airport.

I was definitely considering going (buses from Rutgers only $15 a person) but unfortunately I cannot make it =(

However, Rutgers students and faculty will be represented down in Washington, so I am proud of that. And I'm also proud of all the DUers and progressive bloggers in the US for getting this huge event set up and running. Unfortunately I cannot be a part of history this Saturday, but I can sure follow and be active in it in other ways. Let's hope that this is the last rally needed, that bush* and his cronies are impeached and we bring our troops home NOW.

Hopefully without International Answer dragging out the speakers like they did in September THIS time you'll get to see the march itself instead of some obscure speaker speaking to a crowd of 10 people assigned to garbage detail.

get a clue. The climate in the US is more desperate; perhaps they'll deem this protest more 'important' now.

and if there is a pro-war protest they'll give them equal time (trust me - it's a hoot to see how many people turn out for our protest and the fact that maybe 100 people show up for theirs).

Here we were, over a MILLION Women and Men gathered to March for a woman's right to choice and you wouldn't have known it if you turned on TV that night. In fact, the only TV crew I remember ever seeing was C-SPAN.

But your absolutely correct about what a hoot it can be to see the counter-protest side in their small numbers and to see their insane messages. In this case, I always wonder why the young men from Freeperville who are standing there saying to support our troops by escalating aren't there themselves??? :shrug:
