Eye on Idaho

Could it be that Idaho is on it's way to a blue November?

A few weeks ago we talked about the Idaho State Convention and Congressional candidate Larry Grant who is making waves in the Gem State. We also know that Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brady, whose "Idaho is not for Sale" slogan is catching fire with Democrats across Idaho, has outraised his GOP opponent.

Now we find our Lt. Governor candidate, former Congressman Larry LaRocco, is within striking distance of his opponent. New polling of his GOP foe, who is currently serving as acting Governor, has less than half of voters (46%) rating his job performance positively and a mere 36% of voters committed to re-electing him. So we could likely see yet another state-wide pick-up.

That's what 50-State Strategy is all about folks. Fighting everywhere, and making it happen.

1. Have you seen this?

Larry Grant leads Bill Sali according to this. Weird poll with more undecideds than Sali and Grant combined but still encouraging.

2. Sali is a hapless clown. He even alienates ID Republicans
Bill Sali is perhaps the worst bridge burner in Idaho political history. When Cheney was here to present Sali with his guaranteed 15 minutes of fame, only 3 of 104 State legislators bothered to show up. Given that some 80 percent of the legislature is Republican, the near-unanimous level of no-shows speaks volumes. Look for a huge swath of 1st District GOP voters to either skip over the Congressional race altogether or to a lesser extent cross party lines. And don't forget that self-described independent voters outnumber Republicans here. The prevailing anti-Bush sentiment will put a significant number of those voters in Grant's column.
