Dear Mrs. Duckworth,

I am a Democrat and a sixth district resident. I am a Cegelis volunteer. I blog and write for several national blogs. I am a frequent letter writer to several national political publications.

I'll tell you, the Illininois 6th District Democrats I know are furious that all our donations will be wasted in a primary fight. We are even more angry with Rahm Emmanuel. His views, like Joe Liebermans', are far too militiristic. The Democrats had nothing in the 6th District for years!. Then in 2004 Christine Cegelis chase Henry Hyde away. Now you are using your injuries as some sort of qualification and you don't even live here! People I talked to can't believe its actually legal to run if you don't live here. The story of how you were recruited and imported is the very first issue we need put to rest.

Look maybe you are the greatest candidate ever. If that's true, hell I might even vote for you. But nobody has a clue where you stand. Let alone if you actually are qualified to take over what we built, I challenge you to a debate on Air America WCPT, WGN, several different radio formats, culminating in a live television debate on Chicago Tonight. If you are the better candidate, prove it in debate format. Otherwise its obvious you are Rahm Emmanuel's puppet and being used. While I can't blame you; I certainly will attack you for that, far and wide.

So prove us wrong and show us why we should take your candidacy seriously and engage in a series of POLITE, classic America political debates. That will take all of the steam out of the meat puppet charge. That will expose the issues and save money for everyone. That will certainly silence some of my mudslinging. Prove me wrong. You don't even have to travel to do radio. Do it over the phone. Then the informed voters will decide. I can tell you, even though I'm angry now, truly I am very excited by the prospect of a real primary choice. It will be great. No tricks, just debate the issues and have you both show us your stuff.

I'm publishing this letter and copying National and Illinois stations. I will copy you and the Cegelis Campaign. Me? I'm just a RESIDENT of the 6th district, a donor and a fundraiser who has worked very hard to get this far. All I want is to get the best Democrat elected.

LOL, I'm sure we will see a debate or two come February or March, very very bold move. <sarcasm> How dare a wounded vet, at the urging of others, think she has the right to run for office and let the voters decide. You do realize that in 2004 Cegelis had to challenge the previous nominee, obviously her supporters should not think she is entitled to the nomination. If she is the best candidate and has the grassroots support she should have no problem with Duckworth.

. . .I'm wndycty. . .a DU member since 2001. I led the Illinois grassroots efforts for Wesley Clark (other DUers will vouch for me). I'm not working for Duckworth, however once her campaign is up and running I would consider it. I'm not getting paid for any signatures nor am I lining up volunteers. As I said that could all change. . .I'm still weighing my options, so I will stick with my day job of helping the people in Illinois with access to safe and affordable prescription drugs as well as health insurance for every child 18 and under.

I guess on DU you are guilty of something (I don't know what) if other DUers don't share your opinion.

Have you talked to the find folks at Chicago Tonight, WGN-AM, WCPT and Air America to get airtime. You must have some awesome contact to pull this together. Will Tammy be debating you or Cegelis? I'm very impressed that you can pull this together. . .very impressive.

. . .and support whomever the nominee is. Other that stating my concerns about Cegelis based upon facts revealed in her FEC report I have not chosen to bash Cegelis, call her names or attack her character. . .the same cannot be said for you.

As it relates to the debate that you have "scheduled" on WGN-AM, WCPT-AM, Air America and Chicago Tonight (LOL), are you doing this in an official capacity of the Cegelis campaign. . .I think you should make it clear and will Duckworth be debating you or Cegelis. . .LOL

I pledge to support Duckworth, IF she does debates and that's pretty much my only non-negotiable issue. If she stonewalls, does only one, or they are full of rules so we just get dueling speechs then its politics by other means or outside the party. (read: debate, or maybe Cegelis will run as an independent, wouldnt that be fun? Wouldn't that get Rahm outed as DCCC chair)



See, if she refuses to debate, then she is a Rahm puppet no-brain pity victim, not a real democrat.. and you know what.. maybe this will split the entire Democratic Party? Maybe all the liberals, will just tip the board, because the game is rigged and start a new party? Why shouldn't a liberal split the vote with Roskam and Duckworth? Maybe that will happen. God I hope not..

. . .again are you offering these terms (3 debates 2 radio, 1 TV) on behalf of the Cegelis campaign. If Cegelis and her agree to debate but its only 1 or 2 debates will you be pissed? Again are you speaking on behalf of Cegelis?

Duckworth has been mum about a potential campaign; she can't comment while on active duty.. but DCCC Chmn. Rahm Emanuel (D) has been actively recruiting her. Duckworth is not originally from Illinois -- she was born in Hawaii, with an undergraduate degree at the University of Hawaii and a graduate degree at George Washington University. She moved to Illinois when she was a doctoral student at Northern Illinois University. She joined ROTC there, and later served in the state National Guard in 1996 before being deployed to Iraq. And according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Lynn Sweet, she is presently applying for a release from active duty -- a necessary precursor to officially enter the race.

I think you called her dumb in an earlier post. But obviously you didn't realize she owns a graduate degree from GW and was working on her PhD. Keep calling her dumb. It shows how foolish you look.
