Candidate dumps manager, media consultant in shake-up
Candidate dumps manager, media consultant in shake-up

The turmoil in 6th Congressional District Democrat Christine Cegelis’ campaign continued Tuesday as she parted ways with her campaign manager and media consultant.

The departures of top campaign team members come a day after Cegelis reported having less than $40,000 on hand for the primary’s stretch run-less than half of what opponents Tammy Duckworth, an Iraq war veteran from Hoffman Estates, and Wheaton College professor Lindy Scott had.
-snip-

Cegelis reported having less than $40,000 left as of Jan. 1 after raising $228,000 since 2005. Duckworth, who has national party backing, raised $120,000 in two weeks. Scott raised $101,000 so far, $60,000 from his own pocket.

Republican candidate Peter Roskam, a state senator from Wheaton, had $834,000 left after raising $1 million last year.

2. I'm sure Emanuel will somehow be blamed for this. . .
. . .that evil, evil man :sarcasm: By the way did you hear that Emanuel is backing Nancy Skinner in Michigan, obviously if this man is so against true progressives he would not be backing her.

10. backing skinner how?
by letting her be the sacrificial lamb in a 'hopeless' district? by backing her, since he has no on else to shove in there?
or backing her by milking his money friends for a few $100k?
backing how?
rahm is happy to let progressives run as long as he thinks they can't win. let them grow the party, let them make the inroads, then come in a gather the spoils.

3. Luckily she hired someone without...truthiness
You see, Mr. Sidel, among other things, on his web site says Duckworth is "Pro-Iraq War." A lie. Plain and simple.

He also coyly suggested that a candidate was "airlifted" in from DC.

And then there's the "she refuses to even consider moving into the district." Well, yes. Some of her friends put sweat equity into making her home accessible so she can get to and fro and enjoy such extravagances like showering and going to the bathroom.

And while we're at it, the fact that she lives outside the district is such a red herrring. She lives in Hoffman Estates. Parts of Hoffman Estates are in the district. It isn't a big town.

If you can't get support without lying, you probably don't deserve to win.

4. Yeah there are a lot of lies about Duckworth spread here on the DU
I have been critical of Cegelis, but I have never lied about her nor have I put myself in a position where it would be hard for me to support her if she won, I could not say the same about the Cegelis supporters.

5. He certainly has the right kind of experience
He was a field director for Dennis Kucinich. So he knows what its like fighting a lost cause.
