You have to wonder what the DCCC will do if Cegelis wins
This is from the mydd.com website where they list certain House seats that the Democrats can take back.

http://www.mydd.com/story/2006/2/10/121152/859

<snip>

One item of note is that, among the various insider bits of information I compiled in order to make this forecast, I have in my possession a thick dossier the DCCC compiled for a breakfast with lobbyists a few weeks ago. The dossier discusses around 30-40 districts in much the same way I am discussing them here. In all but one district, when there was a Democratic primary, both major Democrats were listed. However, in IL-06, they only listed Duckworth, pretending that Cegelis did not even exist.

<snip>

My worry is that if Cegelis does win the primary, there will be no financial support from the DCCC. I'm afraid they'll just hang her out to dry. They'll give up this seat to the Republicans.

1. Yes, they will.
And pretending the challenger doesn't exist is a common tactic for the Party establishment. The media does it too. Its easier than making a reasoned argument about why your choice is better.

4. She didn't get support of the DCCC last time...
and got 44%.

Now with or without DCCC in the general this time. She has already captured the eyes of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Progressive Democrats of America, Democracy for America, National Organization of Women, peace groups through out the nation, party leadership (Pelosi, Dean, etc) who have taken note of this grassroots support. and have vested interest. With or with out the DCCC... there will be national infrastructure helping her this time.

5. That's fine but...
if the DCCC really cared about winning the House back, they'd back the primary winner, financially and otherwise, no matter what.

13. That's interesting how the story has changed on this race.
Originally we saw complaints about the evil DC Democrats inserting themselves in this race. Now comes a claim of support from party leadership (Pelosi, Dean, etc) from outside Illinois. Will these groups support Duckworth if she wins?

7. I believe the DCCC SHOULD support CEGELIS if she wins. . .
. . .however it is probably not wise for her or her supporters to continue to take pot shots at Rahm and the DCCC. I hope that he and DCCC would not hold a grudge and be above it all, but it might be hard for them to ignore some of the venom that has been lodged in their direction.

8. if rahm can't take the heat,
he should get out of the kitchen. there is no room for someone who would be a baby. although i have to wonder if this is not already a game of egos and hard feelings.

10. Whose taking pot shots?
All my post points out is that the DCCC left off Cegelis' name when listing Democratic challengers to possible Republican seats that they like to see changed and that it is my worry that they will continue to do that if she wins the primary.

I hope for Illinois and that district especially, that I'm wrong.

12. Unless John or Ruben can work a miracle his retirement is the only way.
Polling would have to move almost 20% and a lot of money would have to come in. Hastert has a District designed for him and too many people fail to realize how little he delivers and how much it costs them.

11. All three candidates are listed on the DCCC website.
To receive financial assistance from outside a campaign has to show a certain level of fundraising and provide credible polling results that show competitive results within a few percent. That is how it is and has been. There is an event with Duckworth and Durbin scheduled in Lombard.

Volunteer Meeting with Senator Dick Durbin
Sunday, February 12th
1:30 PM

Campaign Headquarters
416 W 22nd St
(Between Finley and Highland)
Lombard, IL
