or post about what the hell is going on in the democratic primary? there is nothing out here about either candidate. the local democrats are doing nothing at all. i don`t have a clue other than zamora is running....sometimes i wish the 14th generated as much excitement as the cindy--tammy primary.......

1. You missed a debate in DeKalb.
It was Feb. 20, between Zamora and Laesch. Laesch website is http://john06.com/. I don't think Zamora has a site, I get his e-mails direct.I believe you go here to register for that.zamoraforcongress@yahoogroups.com

3. here is zamora's website.
it looks to me like you have 2 good candidates, but i don't know from here. i would vote for the one most likely to tell the truth about fat denny and the turkish drug smugglers.

4. I'm not from the Fourteenth, but...
Edited on Mon Feb-27-06 12:10 PM by Gary Kleppe
...I've met and talked extensively with both candidates. Based on what I know, I think Ruben Zamora is the better candidate.

  • Ruben's platform is fully and unapologetically progressive. For example, he comes out for universal single-payer health care on his website, while his opponent's site suggests a voluntary Medicare For All program which wouldn't control costs the way moving completely to single-payer would.
  • I know Ruben and he is a person of unimpeachable integrity; he is the person I'd trust more than any other candidate I know to keep fighting for the people and never sell out.
  • Ruben's lived in Aurora for thirteen years and has a strong connection to the community. He's one of us.

(It's Christine, not cindy, by the way.)

6. i do like ruben.
he has worked hard. i have seen him at some pretty far flung events, from the cindy sheehan protest in front of hastert's office, to a couple of things in chicago. i hope he has some former students out there working for him. he seems like the kind of candidate that can really bring people in.
i just hesitate to push for him, as i do not know anything about laesch. where is he from?

7. Laesch
Was campaign manager for David Gill in the 15th. Before that, he worked on the Kucinich campaign.

My biggest problem with Laesch is that he and his campaign have pulled some questionable moves against Ruben, and against the chair of the Kendall County Democrats. The blog 50 Miles Out has coverage.

8. if you want to beat hastert...get over it
I've been looking at a couple of these posts about what happened in the primary...get over it...the primary is over...if you want to take it out on somebody...take it out on Denny Hastert...knock him off, and if you're still bummed about whatever happened between zamora and laesch...2008 is a brand new cycle...democrats beating up on democrats seems to be the national pastime, at least in the 14th Congressional District. In the meantime the real prize gets away..Denny Hastert...speaker of the house, and chief water carrier of the Bush adminstration....surely you can find something he's done more outrageous that whatever happened in the primary...and just as an FYI...challenging petition signatures is small potatoes...so get over it, and let's get back on the field, and this time let's all try to line up on the same side for a change.
