Tammy Duckworth to Speak on Veterans Issues at Addison Democrats Meeting
Tammy Duckworth, Director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, will address concerns of Illinois veterans as the guest speaker at the Addison Township Democratic Organization meeting on Thursday, May 24, at 7:30 PM.

The meeting will be held at the APWU Building, 194 W. Lake St. (Frontage Rd.), in Elmhurst. Refreshments will be served.

1. I heard her speak in Springfield
at the Illinois Democratic Women's convention.

She made it clear that she would not address partisan issues, because of her new job. She spoke mostly about women's leadership. She did give some examples about how her leadership style had changed and grown in the military. She spoke very little about her wounds and recovery.

She does have her act together about veterans' needs. When the elected officials in the audience came up to her after the speech, she started talking immediately about what she wanted them to do for veterans.

Her husband has been redeployed to Iraq. Duckworth did not mention this, but I read it somewhere else.

2. ironic isn't it? wasn't it the stupid vfw that that did NOT support her
but instead threw all their backing behind the republic of the district? and now she is director of veterans affairs...great irony.
