Amtrak bomb threat delays trains
NAPERVILLE – Naperville police officers and firefighters found no suspicious materials after an unidentified caller said an Amtrak train might have a bomb on it.

Amtrak dispatch center told Naperville dispatchers that the caller said Amtrak train No. 383 possibly had a bomb on it, police said. Police said the call started in California and was transferred to the Chicago center.

Officers and firefighters went to the Naperville Metra station, 105 Fourth Ave., near the city’s downtown, about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, police said. The train was on its way to Quincy from Chicago and stopped at the Naperville station, police said.

The train’s four cars were searched and nothing suspicious was found, police said. The Amtrak train was delayed about 50 minutes then allowed to continue, and Metra trains on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe line using the tracks also were delayed, police said.

No one was injured, police added, and no information was available on the caller.
