Progressive candidate Nancy Skinner to be on Thom Hartmann today; fundraising challenge
Please tune in to hear Nancy on Thom's show this afternoon. She will be on at 2:20 p.m. Eastern time, so partway into the last hour of the show.

Nancy is a strong progressive candidate who wants to get out of Iraq as quickly as possible -- she thinks it can be accomplished in six months -- and whose key issue is the environment/global warming. She is facing a primary against a DCCC-backed, establishment candidate. She almost beat 14-year incumbent Joe Knollenberg in '06, losing 47-51% despite being outspent 7:1. Tired of candidates promising to stand up for the American people and then buckling to pressure from leadership? Nancy will vote with her conscience and not buckle to pressure -- if she doesn't get re-elected,then so be it. She will stand up for what is right.

To learn more, go to www.skinnerforcongress.com.

Also, we have just put out a challenge to our supporters to try to raise $1,000 for Nancy by the end of the year. Here's the text of the e-mail we sent out last night:

Dear Friend,

Thank you so much for showing your support for my campaign. If you have contributed already, thank you from the bottom of my heart, and if you attended my fundraiser with Randi Rhodes, thank you for helping to make it such a success!

The fundraiser helped us get the campaign off to a great start, but I need your help in spreading the word and asking your friends and family to contribute. This first quarter of the campaign is crucial to our ultimate success, and I'd like to issue a challenge to each of you:

See if you can raise at least $1,000 for me by the end of the quarter. Just ask your friends and family to go to my website at http://www.skinnerforcongress.com and click on the "Contribute" button. Or, they can go directly to ActBlue at http://www.actblue.com/page/skinnerwins.

In fact, you can go here: http://www.actblue.com/entity/fundraisers/18235 and click on "Create a Page" to set up your own fundraising page so you can track how much you're raising. It's easy: Just get 10 people to contribute $100 or 20 people to donate $50 or...you get the point! Small contributions or large contributions -- they all will help us get to our goal.

Check out and recommend the diary I just posted at DailyKos: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/11/20/131016/03 and my latest blog on the front page of my website.

Here's an excerpt:
It's mind blowing that the greatest nation on earth simply cannot mobilize to face the greatest danger to humanity. The day after the election, a new progressive Congress could vote and send to the Democratic President's desk a Manhattan project-style effort to replace old polluting technology with advanced renewable and energy-efficient technologies across industries and sectors. It would reduce emissions, be the biggest economic boom we have seen here in Michigan and nationally in a century and we could sleep at night knowing that we have not decimated the planet for our children and theirs.

The question I ask you is this: Will the people ever finally tell the "leaders" what they need to do?

Also, listen to me on Thom Hartmann's show at 2:20 ET on Wednesday, November 21.

Have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving, and thanks again for your support.

Nancy

1. Nancy a anti-war candidate?

I've been out of the loop regarding Nancy Skinner lately but wasn't she very pro-war just a few years ago? She's no Progressive.

How many times is she going to run for public office leaving us without a real Progressive to win that seat?

First she lost in Illinois.
Then she lost in Indiana.
Now she wants to lose us a seat in Michigan.

Is she going to move from state to state to win?
