How Can He Run For Congress If He Can't See It? (Oberweis Being Sued For Damages)

Oberweis sued for damages
The Associated Press

GENEVA, Ill. -- According to a lawsuit filed this week, a woman who was injured in a car crash with dairy executive Jim Oberweis last year is seeking more than $50,000 in damages from the congressional candidate.

In the lawsuit filed in Kane County Circuit Court, Maribel Villalobos of Batavia contends when Oberweis hit her car Nov. 7, 2006, he was making an illegal left turn, did not signal, was speeding and was driving without his glasses.

Villalobos said she was knocked unconscious in the crash and suffered neck and back injuries requiring physical therapy.

Oberweis is seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. representative for the 14th Congressional District. His campaign manager, William Pascoe, said the lawsuit was "for the insurance companies to work out."

Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert Thursday endorsed Oberweis as his replacement for his vacated congressional seat.

3. ..because I know...
...this is a nuisance suit that wouldn't be happening if is last name wasn't Oberweis...and it STILL doens't explain how you make an illegal left turn whilst speeding...

Look, I am no fan of the man's political views, but this is what it is, a bullshit lawsuit..

4. maybe he was speeding before the turn, or speeding
while turning? how can you possibly know he was not? and if you need glasses to drive, it is on your license. you know nothing here. you were not there. not that i was, but neither were you.
and why does this person have to sue? did he not have adequate insurance?
guys like oberweis think they own the world. i have no trouble imagining him tearing into a left turn doing 40.

5. The man is an idiot.
I hope this suit sticks to him like glue throughout the race. I do NOT want him representing me.

6. maybe he thought he was in his helicopter looking for illegals
out here in ronnyland his sign`s are everywhere...he`s the chosen one. i think there are a few signs for the republican that is`t insane so i`m thinking about getting one of his signs just to piss off my neighbors. i have no idea which democrat is running let alone who is the best candidate.

since denny left i see the fermi lab did`t get it`s funding..well at least that was one thing denny was good for..

8. Oberweis is not right in the head.
Lauzen is a mean little man. I am going to vote for Foster - the guy from Fermi who has experience in running a business and if he works for Fermi has more than a few brain cells to run together.

The one republican who dropped, Burns from Geneva, would have been a good guy and I think he is in the wrong party. He is a great mayor and extremely well-liked by both parties.

bridget dooley is also a du'er, although not very active. she has a post about foster's campaign, which she praises. the folks at prairie state blue have had a few criticisms of him, tho. mostly from the standpoint of his speaking style, and persistent use of logic and fact. you know, that shit that makes the mindless turn up their ipods. a real handicap in politics, i fear.

9. Supposedly,
Obama, Durbin and Biggert will be working to get the funding. I hope they can work together.

Some experiments at Fermi will not be continuing. The one my son is working on will continue, but he will have several days of furlough each month, until they can figure out what to do about funding. It will hurt his paycheck.

He was hoping to do some consulting to make up for the pay. But he can't commit enough time to consulting. They won't give him a chunk of time off, just several days a month. They don't have to pay unemployment if they do it that way.
