1. I assume you were landing at O'Hare?
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 04:17 PM by yadayadayada
Were you approaching O'Hare from the East? I90, I294, and Mannheim?

3. I meant your approach into Chicago.
You probably landed facing west and came in over Lake Michigan even though you came from the south (DFW). That's probably where 90, 190, and 294 all converge. Cool picture. My DS loves to watch the planes in that appraoch pattern from his porch. He might have seen you. :D Did you wave?

6. Looks like I-90 going into the Kennedy Expressway a bit to the east of O'Hare.
Guessing that you were circling a bit before landing. River Road is the one going north-south towards the middle.

I think there's an el train on the middle right-hand side so you were a bit east of I-294.

:hi:

4. It's quite a piece of engineering
This the the interchange of
I-55 (Adlai E. Stevenson Expressway)
AND
I-90/94 (Dan Ryan Expressway)
At this location there are also exits to
Cermak Rd which leads to McCormick Place and Soldier Field
and Archer Avenue
and some railroad yards that look like a wide surface street.
Go to Google Maps and type in this address:
650 W 25th Pl Chicago, IL 60616
Then click on the Satellite view.
You can view it with or without street names.
You can also click on street view and get the view from under the interchange.

15. every year
mum (English) is getting up there in age - almost 78 :)

I was born in Illinois and was there only two months before moving 13 times and ending back up there in high school when my dad retired from the military - and again I was only there a short time before I enlisted myself. Oddly enough though, when asked where I am "from" I always say Illinois. :)

17. Oh yeah! I'm always hoping to get up to see you guys!
I just saw your thread about Galena, Mo. We came VERY close to going to Galena for this last weekend as a get-away. If I'd realized you were gonna be doing a show I'd have been less wishy-washy about it. As it was, we ended up in Indiana in Nashville--another place for craftsmen and artisans!

Do you do Galena every year?
