Con Con ... what's your view
I've been behind on local and state politics. Just saw an ad telling me to vote for an Illinois Constitutional Convention Con Con. Have any of you been following this? Sounds like they want to add recall options, but that's about all I got from the ad.

What are the important things to know about this before voting?

This measure should be rejected.

3. mine too.
i have the feeling that, nationally and locally, far more dems would end up recalled than rethuglicans. not too many people seem to have seen through the whole gropenator debacle. never was a frame up so seamless, right down to the strippers on the ballot. have no desire to allow that kind of nonsense here.

i would like to see the current wording of the constitution enforced regarding school funding. elected officials pretending that they don't know the meaning of the word majority would be amusing if the consequences were not so serious.
that and bringing back 3 member districts are my only complaints about the state constitution. like so many others, in theory it sounds like a good idea, but i do not see anyone that i really trust with such a grave responsibility.

5. No to Con Con
Our current constitution is amendable and has been amended 10 times. Amendments are voted upon by the people of the state. Recall is an issue that could be added by amendment. My understanding is that recall would affect elected state officials. Remember how Arnold became gov in CA? That was due to recall.
Retired municipal and state worker pensions are currently protected by the Illinois Constitution. Current State and Muni workers are members of these pension funds. Some say that those ON pension would not be affected. We need to protect the current pensions AND future pensions of our public workers.

Vote NO on CON/CON
