My son's election bid:
No, he did not win.

However, he came in sixth out of a field of thirteen. The top four vote getters were seated. The top vote getter was a professor from his alma mater, and a Democrat.

He did incredibly well. Six months ago, no one in Naperville had ever heard of him. At the age of 27, this political newcomer received newspaper endorsements and strong recommendations. The unions loved him, too.

He is applying for a seat on the Plan Commission, at the urging of some of the members of the Lisle Township Democrats. And he says he is going to do this all over again in two years.

We need this type of young Democrat. We need them to know that they need to start out small in local elections, and move up to bigger things. And if they don't make it right away? Dick Durbin lost his first three elections. Paul Simon told him not to quit.

I am very proud of my son.

1. Congratulations!
Keep up the great work. I'm sure there were a lot of lessons learned, and can be applied the next time around.

5. Yes, the next one will be easier.
Maybe I did do something right.

When they were small, I stayed out of politics, but stayed informed. We got back into local politics gradually, as they grew older. Maybe that is why all three of my kids have remained active. I did not neglect them for politics when they were little. I see plenty of moms who work, raise kids, and stay active in politics. I could never have handled all three things.

7. I'm so proud of our local Dems jumping in and giving a good showing!!!
Congratulations to your son and YOU!

I live in Aurora 13th District/NPV township and came back from voting with a big smile. It was such a delight to see our party on the ballot! Even though we didn't win any of the township seats, we showed up and went just under 50%!!!! Four years ago, we weren't even in the race!

Bravo, Democrats in DuPage!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work!
