http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1270800/postsThis is a freeper thread about Keyes announcing he wishes to stay and help the IL GOP and the people of IL:
It's either that or....what? Sell cars? Does he have any actual marketable skills?
Go away Alan! If you could control your temper and condesending attitude, you might have given Obama a race!
He must have forgotten to get a month to month lease. :)
I just don't know of anything the guy's accomplished. As far as I know, he hasn't won any elective office. He seems to be a professional pontificator. I don't like him. I think he's a HORRIBLE advocate. I wouldn't want him representing my worst enemy. Nothing personal against him or his beliefs. I just think his track record shows an inability to persuade ANYONE.
Please tell me Keyes will go quietly into the good night....
Keyes is insane and an egomaniac. He embarasses the Republican party. He's a Black Pat Buchanan.
He is just not a people person with any real likabilty factor.
Comparing Alan Keyes to John the Baptist is the equivalent to thinking that SpongeBob Squarepants is a real person.
Keyes is not a serious political player. His esoterica and Elmer-Gantry-flights-of-fancy are suited for a revival meeting, not a Senate candidacy.
Great speakers are able to persuade those who start out opposing them. Keyes is an evangelist who only appeals to the choir.
What are his top 3 accomplishments on behalf of the unborn? What results has he achieved?
How many hearts has Keyes changed with his thundering denunciations?
What exactly has Keyes done for the pro-life movement? Talk is cheap.
Keyes' militant self-righteousness alienates and offends. Voters in a democracy instinctively and wisely reject candidates who radiate self-righteousness. They wish to be governed by reasonable people.
Fanaticism impresses no one.
Keyes thinks he's Jeremiah. That gets very tired very fast.
Was Keyes running for Senator or Illinois Preacher-in-chief?
Alan Keyes....
working with all his brilliant skills at articulation, to guarantee that republicans will NEVER win illinois again, so long as he is alive. how much did he finally lose by? 40 points? somebody get the nets.
"My question to you is: Would a lot of what he says be "offensive" in another era--say pre-Roe 1972 America? My answer is "no." It's only "offensive" because the culture has changed"
Then buy Keyes a time machine.
But when it comes to prudence and skill in dealing with the media Keyes is challenged to say the least.
but what if he finds another state to move to for the 2006 elections?
And, if that seems bad, it gets worse. Consider this: These people, disparaging Keyes, think Bush is a genius, a good man, and a great leader.
Even the stupid and easily led can recognize a complete psychotic when they see one. (at least, some of them can).
