Pantagraph: Lincoln impersonators wanted

"BLOOMINGTON -- Depicting Abraham Lincoln in February is as popular as imitating Elvis in Las Vegas anytime.

Calls for appearances by old Abe at schools, civic gatherings and political meetings peak this month because of his Feb. 12 birthday, said Lincoln presenters B.F. McClerren and Joe Woodard, both of Southern Illinois, and Heyworth Mayor Gary Simpkins.

Also drawing requests for appearances is Presidents Day, which is today and commemorates Lincoln's birthday and the birthday of George Washington. However, the first president's birthday generally still is observed Feb. 22.

Lincoln presenters see good effects from their appearances.

"It's touching young minds in positive ways," said Simpkins, 57, who portrays a bearded Lincoln as the president appeared during the Civil War."

Any DUers who would fit the bill?

1. Yo.
I'll be the Short, Fat, Mentally Ill, Clean-Shaven Lincoln who failed at everything he did before he became President.

He's pretty tall and lanky.

4. I Had a College Professor Who was the Spitting Image of Lincoln
He taught religion and literature at Davidson. He would walk around campus and people would stare at him. There was also a Mark Twain on campus. Damn if I can remember their names.
