1. Go Schurz!

Lol....couldn't resist. I was one of the first group of girls accepted at Lane but my parents wouldn't let me go.

Good luck in linking up with your former classmates.

Cheers!

3. Now, now

...be nice. Actually I learned everything I needed to know to survive at Schurz. When I would have gone to Lane it was still letting in small number of girls and there hadn't been a graduating class with girls who had attended for 4 years yet.

I think Lane opened the door to girls in 71-72, when I would have started it was still "invitation only" to girls. BTW...my parents also would let me be double promoted or attend any of the magnet schools.

Cheers!

5. I graduated in...
...1978. Ironically when it was time for my sister to attend HS they wanted her to consider Lane but she didn't make the cut. Go figure

Cheers!

7. my son is applying
it is scary to me, tho. he is a really sweet kid, and would make a rotten soldier. but i know that he is the kind of good hearted, do-gooder kid who can get sucked in by recruiters. he talked to a guy from rickover (senn) and was interested. put my foot down on that one, tho.
he loves things that go boom. those shiny buttons look good to him, too.
i am hoping he will get accepted to lakeview, or von stueben instead. before this stupid war, i wouldn't have thought much about it, and would have been happy to send him there.

10. The Gordon gang bangers were funny
The Lane ones would have baseball bats, the Gordon ones would you golf clubs. :) :) :)

11. Well, in my days at GT, there were few gang bangers.
Was the golf club reference meant to suggest that GT was some sort of upper-class prep school? Far from it. It was a trade school, just like Lane.
