As early as their freshman year at Scecina Memorial High School, Elliott Holden and Nathan Burks found themselves competing for the top spot in their class.

"When I realized I could do it, I didn't want to be overtaken by anybody," said Holden. "I always knew that he (Burks) and a couple other were right there, and that kind of motivated me."

Burks knew early on that he faced a tough battle.
