GOP opens state agency's door to party 'friends'
http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050824/COLUMNISTS19/508240464

"Check out this e-mail the Indiana Republican Party recently sent to party contributors at several engineering firms.

"Chairman Kittle and the governor's office are coordinating
with Commissioner Sharp's office in relaying concerns that
our friends in the transportation industry are currently having,"

reads the first sentence of the e-mail from the party's fundraising department.

Here are the players: Chairman Kittle is Jim Kittle, head of the Indiana Republican Party. The governor, of course, is Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels. Commissioner Sharp is Thomas Sharp, Daniels' Indiana Department of Transportation chief.

And in case you didn't notice, the operative word in the e-mail is "coordinating."

In shorthand, here's what is happening: A political party's fundraising unit is coordinating with a governor's office to provide party donors access to a department head. This department head oversees hundreds of millions of dollars in road projects annually that the GOP's "friends" hope to cash in on."

1. The "Door's" been open for a long time
He's already forcing public schools to buy computers from one specific company, otherwise they get NO grant money. So this crap has been going on for a while in Mitch's regime; they've just been a little more discreet about it (and the press have been the usual lap dogs, as we expected).
What can we do? Boycott Kittle's Furniture stores for a start; I'll never shop there again...
