Bayh says he'll vote against Roberts--huh?
http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050924/NEWS01/509240503

The Indianapolis Star has the story (late as usual but it IS the Star you know) that Bayh will vote against Roberts.

Frankly, I'm shocked, but I'll take it.

I like the sub header though: "Exploration of presidential bid has "zero" to do with decision, senator says."

Sure, yeah, we believe that. Uh huh. :eyes:

1. So easy to stand up...
... when Roberts' confirmation is now affirmed.

Didn't hear him thumping for a filibuster to keep a Roberts vote from getting to the floor....

4. Again, I have to agree
as would my hubby who wears his Kiss Me I'm A Pirate shirt almost every day off.

We're big pirates around this house...but we get a kick out of International Talk Like a Pirate day and insist on being obnoxious with it out in public. This year we terrorized the local Menards very early in the morning.

5. It actually looks like some kind of strategy. A lot of who we might
consider more 'centrist' Dems are voting against and a lot of who we might consider more leftist Dems are voting to confirm.

What's up with that?

6. Got me--I admit
to being completely confused.

I welcome schooling by anybody who has this figured out.

7. Flip Flops
All those Centrists who are voting against Roberts clearly have apirations to run in 08. I am not thrilled wth Roberts but I can't see them voting against him given some of the other Bush choices these Centrists have supported. Would have been a better strategy to give Bush a pass on Roberts and go to the mat on the next nomination, IMHO.

8. What's up with that?
If that's a strategy, I'm a jet airplane pilot.

It's a good way to go on losing.

Cheers.

12. If it's a losing strategy
It's probably actually being used by the national Dem party. I swear they pull defeat from the jaws of victory better than pre-2004 Red Sox!

9. Probably jealous because Roberts is more evasive than he is ....
... but now Bayh knows what we feel like when we try to get a position statement out of him !!!
