Steve Goldsmith gets Bush recess appointment
Former Indpls mayor Stephen Goldsmith appointed to be a Member of the Board of Directors of the Corporation for National and Community Service.

Interesting that this would be a recess appointment. Wonder why the Shrub decided to sneak him in with this bunch, which includes a couple of bad bad eggs being appointed to the Federal Elections Commission?

I'm no fan of the ex-Mayor but his baggage isn't that heavy, is it?

2. Bush rules by decree
He doesn't want to bother with minor details such as Congress, the courts, or the Constitution. It doesn't matter whether the appointee is a former car dealer, such as our Ambassador to Britain, or a former mayor. Bush just wants to get his way!

3. scuttlebutt... affair while wife is ill
something along those lines was being floated around the time that he backed out of a high-profile position for bushco on Faith-Based initiatives. But would that come out during hearings? Does that warrent a recess nomination? Interesting.

6. Actually I think it might have more to do with
Steve, when reporting for duty as the head of Faith Based Initiative, got into it with Cheney. Seems Steve figured out that FBI was code name for Theocracy implementation, and being that Steve is a Jew, well that didn't go over real big. Long story short, he was sent packing and it wouldn't surprise me if this is just quid pro quo to ensure his continued silence.

Apparently, they weren't as concerned about the guy who actually wrote a book on what a shame this whole Faith based thing is, but then after all, can anyone remember his name now?

5. I still laugh about the time
Goldsmith, while he was prosecutor started following an obviously drunk driver on Westfield Blvd, I guess he was going to do a Barney Phyfe citizen's arrest. He had two kids in his car (by which marriage beats me) and anyway the drunk got angry at this pencil neck who was tailgating him and slammed on the brakes so that Goldsmith rear-ended him ! That was so rich.

Maybe Goldsmith put that accomplishment on his application for the Board of Directors of the Corporation for National and Community Service??
