No alcohol sold on Sundays?
What the hell kind of state is this? :wtf:

I had a pretty sober suberbowl but it was an incredible high to see my Steelers win. :applause:

Let's kick out some of these wingnuts and bring some fun into this red state. Not much to do in Indy except go to church. :eyes: I swear I can't go 1 mile without seeing a protestant church.

1. Try this getting a drink at this location
In Houston, Texas, beer many not be purchased after midnight on Sunday, but can be purchased anytime on Monday...which happens to begin right after midnight on Sunday! So it's illegal to buy it when its legal to buy it?

5. Can you buy it during the day on Sunday?
If not, then that would answer your question.

8. Yeah, every state that borders Indiana allows it
and here I thought the bluegrass state would be more conservative than the hoosier state. What the hell is a hoosier anyway?

12. Ohio didn't allow it when I was growing up in the 80's
I believe that liquor was sold into state liquor stores until the Republican governor, George Voinovich changed that. I think that now, every area (not usre how small the division) votes on whether to allow alcohol to be sold on Sunday. I am not sure about that though as I moved to Wisconsin in the late 90's.

4. 1 mile?
heck I often can't go three blocks.

I am sure that this law has contributed to many an accident with folks near borders driving to the other states to get their booze on Sunday.

6. Where I'm from, (PA), people like to get boozed up before church
it makes the service go by easier. But even without that, there's always football! Hmmm, I bet they don't sell it at the Colts stadium either. You must have a bunch of sober Colts fans. What fun is that? I guess in Indiana you have to get your booze on Saturday to drink it on game day.

7. you can buy booze on Sunday
from anyone with a Sunday liquor license. Usually these involve restaurants/bars that sell food.

9. right, in a restaurant, but no carry out allowed on Sunday
so buy your booze on Saturday night if you want to drink at home on Sunday. It is not rocket science.

10. Oh come on. As a native Pittsburgher, I must say that our liquor laws..
are no less draconian that IN's. Only recently did we get the ability to buy liquor on sundays, and even more recently beer (if what I've heard is true). And our liquor stores are still state owned.

20. At least you can buy Kahlua in a grocery store here.
In Colorado - Grocery Stores only sold 3.2 beer. In Oregon you could buy beer and wine easily - but liquor was only sold in state run stores that were impossible to find and closed at 8 p.m. I'm a big fan of Kahlua - and I went crazy in Oregon!!!

I think it's dumb not to sell alcohol on Sunday's too, but I've been around enough to know every state has sucky laws that don't make sense.

I worked in Kentucky for a while and it didn't click until I was there that it is a big Bourbon hot-spot. That may be why they are more relaxed about this than they are.

What REALLY gets me irate is when states allow beer to be sold at gas stations. I don't think that should be allowed.

11. It's freaking ridiculous!
Sometimes you just feel like a drink on a Sunday. It's not like we're trying to force our lifestyles on the fundies. Problem is, they're trying to do just that to us.

I am visiting Indiana this week and I had to make a call in Farmersburg. I swear there were 3 or 4 churches in this town of 20. LOL.

14. Where I live
there seems to be a new church being built on every corner. These are not just small churches like in the old days, but massive sprawling buildings. Who pays for these churches. With the economy the way it is how can parishioners afford to give this much money to the church.

17. Aw, that stinks!

You could try going to a restaurant. If they serve food, they can serve alcohol, too. Hmmm ... that doesn't make sense when you think about!

:hi:

19. And the ban is rather selective
...to reflect certain "commerical" interests. Wine bars, for example, can sell all the wine they like. Why? Lobbyists. There's no piety here.
