Bush will raise cash for Sodrel in Indy
$1,000 lunch will aid vulnerable congressman

By Maureen Groppe
Star Washington Bureau
WASHINGTON -- President Bush will visit Indianapolis on March 24, his second trip to the state in two months to raise money for a vulnerable Hoosier congressman.

This time Bush will appear at a $1,000-a-plate luncheon and $10,000-a-ticket reception to aid Rep. Mike Sodrel, a Republican from New Albany.

Sodrel was the only challenger outside Texas to knock off a House incumbent in 2004, but he did it with the smallest winning percentage in the country.

According to a copy of the invitation being sent to potential donors, Bush will attend a reception and luncheon for Sodrel at the Murat Centre in Downtown Indianapolis.

I think that Sodrel is a one-termer.

4. "My Has-Been, Mitch" ?
Doesn't seem to be alot of fraternizing between Boy George and 'his man' anymore, does there?

Wonder why that is ? Hmmm ....

5. Interesting, that... isn't it?
Hadn't noticed the silence, but you are right. So which one is avoiding the other?

I am on vacation that day. Birthday week don't you know. I may have to get over to the Murat.

9. I've got bail money ready and my attorney on speed-dial..
and I am ready for that jerk to show up. After hearing about the bogus arrest from his prior visit, I have been trained on what to say and how to act by those in the know. We're awaiting word on where the protest site will be set up; my attorneys seem to think it will be almost 1/4 mile away from the Murat. Will post more as I hear the where and when...

10. I will see you both there!!!
I think I can spit a quarter-mile. I hear the protest will be at the intersection of Alabama and North Streets gathering about 1/2 hour before he is due to show up. I'll keep an eye on it.

7. So, Sodrel can't raise money in his own district?
He has to go to GOP-heavy Indy suburbs and appear with out-of-staters to get cash? Sad.

8. We're broke in Jeffersonville
Of course - it's not like his constituents here in Jeffersonville have that type of money. The per capital income for the city is $19,656 and with the local Colgate plant closing I suspect it won't be moving any higher.
