Want to know if your vote counts? Republican wins local election by 6 votes...
I am sure that a recount is in the offing... but geez this bites. I donated to Kinzie and helped put out signs and this result is actually an amazing success in a district that has been dominated by Republicans for so long that no one remembers when a Democrat last won. But geez -- 6 votes, 6 people. SIX!

City Council District 2 - With 72 precincts out 72 reporting (unofficial)
Jillian Kinzie (D)– 442
Brad Wisler (R) – 448

Election results for Monroe County Indiana -- today was otherwise a Democratic sweep...

Mayor:
Mark Kruzan(D): 5,932 votes
David Sabbagh (R): 3,728 votes

City Council:

District 5
Alicia Graves (R)- 895
Isabel Piedmont (D): - 1,606

District 6
Steven Vollan (D)– 268
Marjorie Hutchins (R) – 83

City Council at Large (3 seats open)
Andy Ruff(D) – 6,439
Susan Sandberg(D) – 6,893
Tim Mayer (D)– 6,815
Cliff Meadows (R) – 3,663

1. We had 100,000 votes for mayor in a metropolitan area of a million people
People can't just sit at home and wait for something to happen. This is like hoping to win the Lottery without buying a ticket.

2. We had a Democratic challenger oust a long-term
Republican city councilman by a margin of only 13 votes here in Ft. Wayne. Recount has been ordered, hope the results hold.
