Why I hate rural Indiana
Sunday night driving home from Terre Haute, I passed a business owned by an extreme rightwing crackpot asshole. He's now got a sign out in his front that says "Barack Hussein Obama Your Not Welcome Here." Spelling mistake his. I'm thinking I'd like to get a pic of it and send it to the Obama campaign headquarters, to let them know for certain there are jackasses still in the country. This is the same jerk who recently had a sign that said "Clinton vs. Obama: isn't it fun to watch two fools fight."

1. Hey, that's the next road down from my duplex
Did you see the sign around the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, berating us for buying Jap merchandise?

Though I do take issue with you calling that "rural." It's not rural yet for another three miles or so.

2. It is close to rural
And you won't see that sign in Broad Ripple, that's for sure. I didn't see the one about Pearl Harbor, although I can only imagine what bile he would put up for that.

So if you're close to there, do you know the guy who puts that up? Is the the Moran? Or is he just a bully?

And remember the sign he had up about 6 months ago? Went something like this:

Iraq: Win
Immigrants: Deport
Terrorists: Kill

3. Yes, I remember that one
As well as "Hillary Obama / Isn't it fun to watch two idiots fight?"

The business is Kwik Stop Fuels, they provide fuel oil. That's about all I know, other than that they're racist and stupid.

8. Where are those guys that
shoot signs with shotguns when you need them?
Too bad the people across the street don't have Obama signs all along their frontage.

6. It's not just rural Indiana.
I've lived & worked in rural, small town, suburban and city settings in this state and the right-wing racism and stupidity permeate them all.

Not that there aren't a large number of good, decent people in all these places, there are, but even some of the "good" people grew up in such an entrenched republican, John Birch, xenophobic atmosphere that they really don't know anything better or different. Now that faux and the other "news" channels are pumping loads of that same stale air into the conversation, they're even more convinced that they are right.

The nut-cases in the urban areas used to be more likely to keep their asshole opinions to themselves but in the current political climate, don't expect that to last much longer.

7. That's true
I think the one of the worst aspects of the Bush administration is that they have empowered bullies.

11. I have seen a sign down on I-74 near Greensburg
Near where the big new Honda plant is going up. It is advertising land for sale at "pre-invasion" prices and the sign actually has a picture of a dive bombing Japanese zero. Nice way to welcome their new largest employer.
