Provisional Voting
If you must vote provisionally keep in mind that it will only be counted under the following provisions:

1) Registered at the precinct assigned to the voting site. --- Even if you are legally registered to vote in the county it will not be counted if you go to the wrong voting site.

2) If a voter casts a provisional ballot because of their refusal or unable to provide identification they will be required to present the proper photo ID within 10 days of the election.

How to avoid problems with Provisional Ballots?

Go online to www.indianavoters.com and go to Voter Registration. From there select your county, input your last name, first name and date of birth. This site will verify your eligibility to vote, your precinct, your voting site and different political districts. It also shows the last time action was taken that effected your registration. It could be name or address change or precinct changed.

If you don't have access to the internet to verify your eligibility call your local Voter Registration office in your county.

If your county provides in person absentee voting before the election your application will be processed and you will be provided the correct ballot for your precinct. Unless they totally screw up and you don't pay attention.

Absentee voting by mail is also available for those that are not sure if they will be in the county on election day, at work during the voting hours and other reasons. This method does not require photo ID. The election board will provide the correct ballot for your precinct in the mail.
