Indiana: Obama up 3 in WTHR/Indianapolis Star poll
Sen. Barack Obama holds a tenuous lead over Sen. John McCain in Indiana, with one in four likely voters saying they could change their mind on who to support for president, according to a new Indianapolis Star-WTHR (Channel 13) poll.

Obama's three-point lead in the poll, 47 percent to 44 percent, reinforces Indiana's status as a battleground in the race for the White House.

The poll, conducted Sunday through Tuesday by Selzer & Co. of Des Moines, Iowa, also revealed a geographic disparity between the two candidates: Obama, the Democrat, holds a 54 percent to 40 percent advantage in Indianapolis, but McCain, the Republican, leads in all other regions of the state, including Northwest Indiana.

Pollster J. Ann Selzer said the poll, with a 4 percentage point margin of error, reflects a lead by Obama that is tentative and reliant on a solid turnout in the Indianapolis metropolitan area.

2. Let's keep working to build on it
Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 12:12 PM by Voltaire
My whole family has been knocking on doors, making calls, cooking meals, data entry and who knows what else. Hope it all works, I'd like nothing better for Indiana to be the first to go for Obama. If that happens, its game, set and match for McLame/Satan and with any luck Lord Shorty as well!

3. You rock, Voltaire.
Unfortunately all my focus has been on my personal economy aka paying my bills, so i don't have much time or money to give. But I really appreciate what you're doing!

6. Just do the best you can and. . .
BELIEVE!!!

Besides, I have a down payment on a trip to the inaugural when he wins. I am planning to be in D.C., so I know Barack will NOT let me down.

4. Quite an organization, isn't it?
Hey Voltaire, how you doing?

SpeedwayDemocrat is volunteering with the campaign and neither of us has EVER seen this kind of organization and use of data. At least not from democratic campaigns in this state.

We need another meet up, hopefully when we can celebrate Dem victories!

5. I agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY on the Meetup
It will be good to touch base again. I know everyone is doing what they can and are quite busy, I know I have to split my time between working, grad school and the campaign. But you know what, I can sleep the sleep of infants the day after Barack gets elected. No, wait, I plan on being hungover that day, maybe I can sleep the next day.

Seriously though, I don't know if we can take the state. But to be in the lead at ANY point in the process is a major step up for us. And I think the more McLame opens his mouth, the better it is for us. I got the feeling that as good as things are right now, Obama still has yet to unleash the ultimate can of whoopass that will sink Gramps and Tramp. But its coming!!

But lets work on that meetup. Maybe we can do it the weekend after Election Day. Two hangovers in a week ain't gonna hurt me.

7. Voltaire...
I wish I was there to help you knock, call, eat your meals, offer massages for RSI and also introduce you to Eddie Izzard (a British comedian)...
McTitanic, let Indiana be the first iceberg.
Well done!

8. Can't speak for Voltaire but...
Eddie rocks! I've been a fan of his comedy for years. With "The Riches" he has now proven himself to be an excellent actor.

Cheers & welcome to DU.

9. Let Indiana Be the First Iceberg. . .
I LOVE IT!!! MAKE IT SO!!!

My brother in San Antonio has been preaching landslide to me all summer, but I wasn't about to go there with him. With the week that McLame and his sidekick Caribou Barbie has had, I think I am jumping aboard the landslide bus. When Indiana goes blue, the game is OVAH!

10. Election Night
Well Voltaire... Yes We Can.
You know I work in such a cynical environment. The election and Obama have given me enthusiasm like no other.
Indiana, Virginia, Missouri, North Carolina... let them all be McTitanics!
