Rally against attack on Unemployment Pay in Indy
UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFITS AT RISK: TIME TO TURN UP THE HEAT!

Our unemployment insurance system has been underfinanced for years. It’s been completely broke since last year. And after months of legislative wrangling with the issue, fixing it has all come down to the last two weeks of the session.

The Senate Republicans put forward a plan that would:
Deny all benefits to some workers and
Cut benefits for all workers in order to correct the deficit.

Early next week, we’ll see an alternative plan from the House Democrats. Negotiations will be fast and furious by mid-week. If we want to protect unemployment insurance as we know it, we need to make our voices heard.

Come lobby your representatives at the Statehouse and tell them to protect unemployment benefits for all workers who are out of work through no fault of their own.
JOIN US:

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

We’ll brief you on the bill and then head out to talk to our representatives.

Please keep in mind that you will have to pass through metal detectors to enter any government complex building.

The USW has a bus leaving from District 7 at 6 a.m. which is open to everyone.

Seating on the bus is limited ACT NOW

Bus leaves McBride Hall at 6:00 A.M. sharp & will return around 3:00 P.M. – a morning snack and a box lunch provided!

Please call 219-886-2596 to reserve your spot on the USW bus.
