Rove, Dean to debate at DePauw on Sept. 11

GREENCASTLE, Ind. — Howard Dean and Karl Rove are scheduled to debate at DePauw University in September.

Dean is a former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and Rove is the former chief political adviser to President George W. Bush. The two political speakers are slated to debate Sept. 11 about America’s challenges and opportunities.

DePauw University officials say the debate’s format will allow members of the community to present issues and questions to Dean and Rove.


The debate will be free and open to the public. DePauw is a small private school located in Greencastle, about 45 miles southwest of Indianapolis.

Oddly, I saw that they were coming on our home page (I teach at DePauw) but never imagined they'd be sharing a stage...

... but I'm sure Karl will have the audience packed with TeaBaggers and Dr. Dean won't get a word in edgewise.

And yes, a real issues-based debate would certainly be a problem for Turd Blossom.

An email I just received from the guy who coordinates events at DePauw wrote, "Ubben Lecture Series presents Karl Rove and Howard Dean debating health care"

They're asking people with DePauw affiliation to submit questions, from which up to 30 will be selected *at random* to ask their questions (Dean and Rove each gets 2 minutes to answer each question with optional 1-minute rebuttals). In addition, there will be a separate drawing among questions submitted by members of the "Greencastle community," one of which will be asked.
