Report: Brizzi Cut Plea Deal For Friend's Client

Report: Brizzi Reduced Charges, Ordered $10K Returned

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Business Journal reported Monday that Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi intervened in a drug case in which the defense attorney was Brizzi's friend and business partner, reducing the charges and directing his staff to return $10,000 that had been seized.

The newspaper cites internal e-mails and sources within the prosecutor's office who requested anonymity because they weren't authorized to discuss the 2009 case.

The prosecutor's office didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment Monday.

The case involved a man accused of dealing in steroids who was represented by Brizzi associate Paul J. Page.
