CR Gazette adding Ann Coulter to opinion page
Adding Ann Coulter(conservative), Jonah Goldberg(conservative) and Clarence Page (liberal). Dropping conservative Cal Thomas and liberal Richard Reeves.
This doesn't quite seem to add up does it? No surprise, the Gazette backed Chimpy instead of Kerry.

1. Write them a nice respectful letter
and tell them about how you want your subscription cancelled because you don't to encourage that horrible assclown being published anywhere, ever.

4. Cedar Rapids
Not a bad town usually. I live about 30 miles south now, but have been reading this paper since I was a kid, which was quite some time ago. I know I should cancel my subscription, but maybe I'll just keep sending the letters to the editor to express my disgust with them. They've always printed whatever I've sent.

3. Man oh man! Thats a shame.
Cedar Rapids is a pretty good city. Too bad you have a right wing rag up there. I'd say get a different newspaper, but it really is nice to know local news. Well, I know I won't buy that paper next time I'm up there.

5. Ah...Cedar Rapids. Thanks.
Running Coulter is beneath the dignity of any respectable newspaper. Why not David Duke or Roy Moore?
Cancel your subscription along with a nice LTE demanding the reason for such a dramatic right turn. Include some of Coulter's more famous inane, xenophobic, fascist statements and ask if this is the sort of public discourse they want to project?
Too bad, I fell sorry for you and the people in your area.

6. At least she will be out in the open and can be contradicted....
She seems to spend most of her time preaching to her own personal
choir, so that much of the garbage she spews is never challenged.

7. Letter to the Gazette
Here's my LTTE:

-------------------------
Dear (editor):
While I understand and applaud the presentation of opposing political
viewpoints, I find the decision of the Gazette to carry a column by
Ann Coulter to be deeply troubling. Ms. Coulter does not present a
typical conservative viewpoint on current events; her opinions are
severely polemic, inflammatory, and even dangerous. For example, in
an interview with the New York Observer on Aug. 20, 2002, she said,
"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York
Times Building."

Even the National Review Online dropped Coulter for being too extreme
after she said the following on September 13, 2001 (referring to
Muslims), "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and
convert them to Christianity."

Responsible journalism should reflect and transmit society's values
and encourage a well-informed citizenry. The writing of Ann Coulter
does neither. I hope you reconsider the decision to publish her
column.

Thank you,
(me)
