A trip down memory road
This diary on Dailykos jogged a memory

When Jim Leach would have his quarterly tour of the district we would see him at two or three of them. And at each one in his last two years, I would ask him a question on the roll of congress that would go something like this:
"With Bush changing laws with his signing statements, why do we even need congress?" or
"If congress gave Bush line item veto would there be any need for congress anymore?"
Leach would just glare at me every time and then go into some gobbledygook about the constitution. Usually I would ask if what Bush was doing wasn't in the constitution and what would congress do about it. Loved to tweak Leach.
