All endorsed Boswell for the 3rd district congressional seat challenged by Fallon.

Fallon was simply the better man to represent my district. Even the DMR recognized this. I'm not surprised that Gore endorsed Boswell since Fallon was a Nader supporter in 2000. Fallon has stated publicly that he regrets this decision but ultimately it didn't matter in Iowa since Gore won our state. The fact is that Fallon was the better man on energy, on the war, on all progressive issues. Harkin lost some respect with me. As a Wellstone Democrat, he should have either stayed neutral or endorsed the candidate who was most like Wellstone.

I feel more disillusioned today than ever. We had the chance to have a real progressive represent us in Congress. Ed Fallon would have made an excellent Congressman.

It truly is an old boys club.

1. I'm disappointed but okay...
I think Boswell may have a tough fight...even in this year of the Democrat. But I also think we'll lead by 60 seats after the election. If Boswell looses, he is done with politics and Fallon can take on the challenger in just 2 years. If Boswell wins, he can't stay in forever. He is, what, 78?

2. If Boswell retires, the bigwigs will have a candidate that they groomed for the spot
The party bigwigs have a candidate in mind for when Boswell retires and it isn't Fallon. Not sure if it will be Kevin McCarthy, Matt McCoy, or someone else.

4. Who elected the bigwigs?
I am beginning to be dubious about the rats in the walls.

3. 39% isn't good for Boswell
I was indeed surprised that Mr Fallon received 39% of the primary vote and I don't think that bodes well for Boswell this fall.. I won't vote for him this fall..
