Leach supports Obama?
I cobbed this from a post in GD...

--------------------------
August 12th, 2008

Democrats have united behind Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and the party will officially nominate him for president in Denver later this month. Now, some Republicans want to help him get to the White House, too.

On Tuesday, Obama’s campaign will officially launch a “Republicans for Obama” campaign, featuring James Leach, a former GOP congressman from Iowa who once headed the House Financial Services Committee, among other Republicans. Those members of the GOP, says Obama’s campaign, “are crossing the divide of old politics to support Barack Obama for president.”

2. But will he vote for him?
That's Leach in a nutshell - a rebel against the GOP unless they REALLY need him. I hope he does vote for Obama. I just wish there was a way to verify it.

5. My sentiments exactly
The original "catch and release republican". Were Leach still in congress we would have heard either a tepid endorsement of McCain or, more likely, nothing.
This will burnish Leach's 'statesman' image. For those who never got beyond the Jim Leach media personna this will play well and maybe bring in some needed votes in eastern Iowa.
But I do want to say thanks for the endorsement, Mr. Leach.
Now if only Bill Clinton ..........

4. Yeah, I'm sending that to some Repubes on my email list.
I have an Aunt that always votes R but says she has issues with McCain. She said to send her stuff to convince her to vote D for the first time in her life!

She's already read one of Obama's books and is half way through the other. :)

6. The repukes are not happy
It's pretty entertaining to read some of the responses to the story on gazetteonline. I'll have to check some other news websites for more enlightening comments.

7. If the repubs aren't happy
Then that's enough for me. If something makes them unhappy it's likely the best thing for all of us.
