What the hell has happened to my fair city???
In Iowa City, an opponent of same-sex marriage delivered a petition signed by EIGHT people urging the county recorder not to grant licences. I swear to Christ, I was not one of them.

1. Nor was it I. So, who does that leave?
And what is their motive?

2. Eight!
I probably have eight neighbors across the street that have signed such a petition. What I wouldn't give to have a total of eight in the whole city.

3. In Iowa City he got EIGHT?
Must of been out of towners. Here in Davenport we had ONE protester standing in front of the Courthouse on Monday. And Davenport has a bit of a redneck streak. I guess the times really are a changing.

4. It's a riddle wrapped inside a mystery, tucked in an enigma.
The only way to figure who these eight are is by the process of elimination. Rural, what were you doing Monday?

6. My sentiments, exactly.
Hey Critters2 you'd appreciate this, being an animal person. The wife and I run a volunteer house for stray cats. Got seventeen. It took us two years to finally catch our feral youngest to get him fixed. Happened Monday. So a good day. We have to deal with his marking for a little bit, but it's better than his yodeling all night!

7. These people are barking up the wrong tree
The recorder does not have the legal standing to ignore the Supreme Court's orders.

8. Great to see the picture of a happy couple....
...outside the Johnson County Courthouse make it in USA Today, Monday, 47. This town is, truly, a great place to live. Never been prouder.

12. And it's particularly silly...
...since Kim Painter (Johnson Co. Recorder) is openly gay and supports same-sex marriage. I heard her on NPR the other morning - she was great (she and her partner plan to marry in the fall). :)

14. What I can't begin to fathom is why go to the trouble.
Eight names? Maybe an even dozen - OK. But eight?

15. God will see their names on the petition
So he/she can easily identify them as hateful bigots.
