Don't think your vote doesn't count????
Sales tax to help flood victims wins by 6 votes in Iowa City. Loses by 7 votes in hideous Coralville. Absentee votes still out , but our fingers are crossed.

1. I sure hope Coralville comes out ahead with absentee ballots
Otherwise my property taxes will go up for sure. In true republican fashion, the axe the tax people spread a lot of lies and misinformation. I was hoping the people of Coralville and Iowa City were smart enough to see through it.

2. The pro-tax message was never clear, Blue.
Then Iowa City City Manager Lombardo was relieved of his duties and that just added to the confusion. In the end, thats why we're Democrats. We want to help people. And the Republicans....Just like their Ax The Tax leader, Mike Thayer- selfish sunza beeches.

3. Coralville had something on their cable channel
They explained exactly what needed to be done. I stumbled across it earlier this week. I think if more people had seen it the tax would have passed without any problem.

Mike Thayer is a horse's ass and a republican of the worst kind. His LTTE's make me want to vomit. :puke: Deb Thornton and Lori Cardella aren't any better.

5. The rumor is, Blue, that the absentees are trending to YES.
Let's hope it's a good rumor.

11. A little boy was out in the pasture with his dad who was
trying to catch a mare and her six-month old male offspring. Little boy takes off and runs to the house yelling, "Mommie, Mommie, Daddy named the colt--Sunny Beach!"

4. Wow . Can't get much tighter than that.
I thought Horrorville would pass it and IC would vote it down. Sounds like the counting is far from over, though. The only thing that could help North Liberty is a F-....oh, nevermind. Here's to hoping.

7. Hardrada. You speak like a republican.
Guess what? The $$ has to come from somewhere. It won't be donated. Property taxes will skyrocket. Six and one half, dozen the other. Tell that to the Captains mother.

8. I was just echoing a common sentiment amongst my IC acquaintances.
These people aren't repugs just disgruntled souls and cynics.

9. Disgruntled souls and cynics, Hardrada

yeah, it was tough. Like I said, our City Council did a terrible job explaining that the projects were needed and were going to be undertaken either way. If one didn't follow it all closely, I can see how he/she might think the projects weren't going to happen without the tax.

10. We have the same problem here plus the fact that so many
of our councilmen, supervisors etc are in the construction business and are contractors and so forth. I get a bit cynical myself.
