Grassley numbers continue to tumble:
Looks like Farmer Chuck didn't help himself much by lying through his teeth about health care across Iowa in August:

August Senate Approval Numbers from Survey USA
by: Senate Guru
Tue Sep 08, 2009 at 11:18 AM EDT
SUSA is up with their August 2009 numbers.

Republicans:

Chuck Grassley Jan. '09 Feb. '09 Mar. '09 Apr. '09 May '09 June '09 July '09 Aug. '09
Approve
71 71 68 59 63 58 62 54

Disapprove

22 22 23 27 27 32 34 30 34

For the second time in three months, Grassley sets a new mark for his worst Survey USA numbers ever as they inch closer to the 50% mark. It's most definitely too soon to start celebrating a competitive IA-Sen, but things could get interesting if Grassley's numbers flirt with the low 50's for multiple months.

Looks like the LTTEs are opening eyes among Iowans. Please continue to help out by sending an LTTE to your local papers.
If you need help writing an LTTE or would like me to write one for you, or need help on how to address your letter, PM me.

Let's help Chuck achieve that 40% mark he so richly deserves.

1. My parents are in their 70's
So all elderly people like Ol' Chuck right? Wrong. My genteel church going parents say that he should "go to hell". I agree.

3. Has Harkin said anything about the Baucus bill?
My local NPR market (Omaha/Council Bluffs) started delivering local news this past Winter. Mostly, it sounds as if they're airing rip and read PSAs that they get. Unfortunately, this means that I hear quite a bit about Operation Rescue, and about Lee Terry, Steve King, Ben Nelson, and Chuck Grassley's opposition to health care. Iowa has another Senator, Harkin, who I would think would have more to say about health care reform. Are there any recent press releases from Harkin's office that I can forward onto my local NPR affiliate?

If any DU'er is interested, you can email my NPR station at listener@kios.org

4. Harkin has said the senate will deliver a bill with a strong public option
to the president's desk by Christmas. Essentially saying screw the Baucus bill.
Welcome to DU. We need more folk in your area

5. Thanks for the welcome rurallib
I sent a notice to my local NPR station. I'm not sure if that helped, but today, I heard a peice about Harkin saying that health care reform will get passed.

There's still a lot of coverage of Grassley on that station. I'm wondering if Grassley's office just issues more announcements.

8. I'm in Eastern Iowa. They ignor Harkin too.
Everytime they have Grassley on, I email them and remind them that Iowa has 2 Senators working on HCR. Harkin's aide assured me that they send out press releases daily. They are ignored by the Corporate news.
